The most knowledgeable man after the Prophets and Messengers, upon whom be peace, the boast of God in front of the angels,' the teacher of the jurists and the treasure of the scholars. He was present at the second allegiance of al-Agabah and fought in all of the wars of prophecy. He was of a dark complexion, tightly curled hair, brilliant teeth and was distinctly handsome.

He died as a result of the great plague that was known as ‘Amwas, that afflicted the regions of the Levant, nineteen years after the Migration.
